Kids today have missed the whole experience of putting the headphones on, turning it up to 10, holding the jacket, closing their eyes and getting lost in an album; and the beauty of taking your allowance money and making a decision based on the jacket, not knowing what the record sounded like, and looking at a couple of still pictures and imagining it.
So for starters: he contradicts himself.
Secondly: He does realize that the experience he describes was dead long before iTunes sales took off. Not to mention, with the barrier to entry so low (song snippets to try before you buy, the ability to pay $0.99 for that single song you like - much like when you could actually buy singles, something Mr. Bon Jovi forgot…) people probably are willing to take more risks and discover more new music.
Thirdly: remember when Bon Jovi was relavent?
