Finally got around to recording a new cover! This one’s “All I Need Is You”, originally by The Click Five.
It’s tradition in our family to perform during Christmas and New Years’. This year, we thought we’d switch things up a bit and perform something from Glee. So that’s me and my nephews singing and dancing to my cover of “Teenage Dream” as featured on Glee, like how Blaine (Darren Criss) and the Warblers performed it.
I made a “studio version” of my “Teenage Dream” cover. Here’s a link: http://www.mediafire.com/?mcareuk1m5zb22x
Progress Report: “Teenage Dream” (Acapella cover)
I was finally able to record all the backing vocals during the chorus! Just a few more sections of the song, and I’m done!
Here’s what I have so far. It’s the second half of the first verse and the whole first chorus.
[Again, the main vocals here will most definitely be re-recorded. As will some of the other tracks if I get an OC episode.]
PROGRESS REPORT: “Teenage Dream” (Acapella/Beatbox Cover)
OK, my cover of this song is finally taking shape! I’m so excited!
Anyway, this is just a “rough draft”. So, some things:
- The main vocal’s just for reference. I’m most definitely recording it again after all the backing vocals and percussion have been recorded. [And I fudged the lyrics. Haha!]
- Volume levels are still all over the place. I’ll adjust everything when the rest of the song has been laid out.
- Still missing some harmonies here and there.
- Since this is a draft, none of this is final. I might have to re-record some tracks if they don’t sound right in the end.
Man, I was so proud to have nailed that harmony in the chorus! It was hit and miss, but it paid off, I guess.

Doing an acapella/beatbox cover of “Teenage Dream” is no simple feat! I’m working on the intro; here’s a sample.
It might take me more than a week! I’m just one guy and I’m doing all the voices!
My first audio post, and my first submission to Karaoke Friday! Hello to all to my fellow karaoke-goers! My name is JP, and I am a co-moderator of Fuck Yeah, Wiccan!
In the wake of the death of Rich Cronin, frontman of LFO, I thought I’d sing “Girl on TV” in his memory. May he rest in peace.
I did all the vocals on this one, even the rapping (which I’ve never done before), so please be gentle.
Finally made time to make another cover. This time it’s “Alejandro” by Lady GaGa.
Overall, I’m really happy with how this turned out. I’m still a little nervous when I record live, but I’m getting more and more confident. I’m pretty proud of my arrangement too. I played and recorded a shaker and a cajón, to complement the software piano and the tambourine samples. I’m also particularly proud of the background vocal arrangement. ^_^
“Alejandro” was originally recorded by Lady GaGa and was written by Nadir Khayat and Stefani Germanotta.
AJ Rafael’s tribute to the Glee Credits. Siiiick. =]
OH YEAH!!! Awesome!!!
These guys look Filipino. And it looks like this was done at a Guitar Center branch.

“Wind Waker Unplugged”
For all the Zelda fans out there, prepare to be blown away.
I think one of the best things about the Zelda series is the music. The music from Zelda is amazing and it’s got all of these world music influences.
Talented musician is talented.
